MRS. SARAH KIM

I was born, Sarah Regina Nelson, in Hartford, CT, in the summer month of August, 1971. I left my hometown in 1992 to join the United Armed Forces, (U.S. Army). It is there where I met my husband, Kyong Kim, of 16 years. We met while deployed to Haiti. We married 1 year later and I had my first child; my son Isaiah, who is now 13.

My husband and I made the decision to have me leave the military and become a stay-at-home mom, while he continued his military tour. So in 1996, when my son was born, I put in for a request for an early discharge and was approved.

18 months after my son was born, I became pregnant with my second child; this time a beautiful baby girl, Ashlee. I am Christian so I felt a leading from God to homeschool my children. I had no clue where to start, but I felt in my spiirit that this was the right decision. My husband was not too sure at that time and it was all very new to us both, but we have been homeschooling the children ever since preschool and I am still loving it. I know that it brings me joy to watch my kids grow in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Aside from homeschooling, I run my own home-based businesses and plan to expand them some day. I run a retail-general merchandise store, currently online and an AVON Business.

I feel so blessed to be able to homeschool my children and work-at-home. I do look forward to meeting others and that is why I am so thankful for networks like Facebook and DFW Homeschool Cafe. I have met so many wonderful people and look forward to networking with and supporting each person I can.
